I am thrilled that my short story Chalk Bones has been included in a new anthology of horror stories, edited by the brilliant Gemma Amor and published by Titan Books.
"There is a single old tree, on a mound, on a hill, on the land my grandad farms. I know not to play there."
Sarah Deacon’s “Chalk Bones” shocking ending is the ultimate demonstration of the dark power of the roots that bind us all. Grimdark
Sarah Deacon is a writer of novels, short stories and plays, currently living in Somerset.

Although she started her first novel at fourteen (never completed!), it wasn’t until she left the theatre to work first in conservation and then libraries that Sarah really concentrated on her own writing. Since then she has written four novels and is currently working on a fifth, as well as numerous short stories and the occasional play.
Sarah has an MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University, and was shortlisted for the Janklow & Nesbit Bath Spa Prize for her MA manuscript.
